How long do asphalt shingle roofs last?

Most modern architectural shingle roofs can last 20-30 years or even more with proper maintenance. The lifespan of an asphalt shingle roof often depends on how much extreme weather impact it receives.

Are you certified by any manufacturers?

Yes, we are! Blue Nail Exteriors holds dozens of awards and certifications from industry brands and manufacturers. Some of our most notable certifications include GAF President’s Club, GAF Master Elite, GAF Solar Certified, James Hardie National Advisory Board, DaVinci Masterpiece Certified, and Velux Certified— just to name a few!

What types of roofing materials do you install?

We’re happy to install GAF architectural shingles, metal roofing, composite slate and shakes, traditional slate, and traditional cedar shakes.

Do you offer financing?

Yes! We’ve partnered with multiple trusted lenders—including Service Finance, Mosaic, and Upgrade—to bring you some of the most flexible and competitive financing options in the industry. Whether you’re planning a minor repair or a full exterior remodel, we’ll help you access a solution that fits your budget without delaying your project.

What warranties do you offer?

All roof replacements are covered by a manufacturer warranty. We are proud to offer a variety of GAF warranties, including the GAF Golden and Silver pledge warranties, as well as the System Plus warranty. The GAF Golden Warranty includes lifetime coverage for the materials and a 25-year labor warranty. Our sales team is happy to discuss the warranty options with you and the various upgrade levels.

What services does Blue Nail Exteriors offer?

Our company provides roofing, siding, windows & doors, gutters, solar shingles, and deck services. Call us for repair and full replacement requests!

Where is Blue Nail Exteriors located?

Our office is located in Montville, NJ, and we serve the greater Northern New Jersey area.

Is Blue Nail Exteriors fully licensed and insured?

Yes! We hold the necessary license required by the state of New Jersey, and we’re fully equipped with worker’s comp insurance. Our license number is 13VH09242600.

Do I need a roof repair or a roof replacement?

Roof repairs can usually be the solution for shingle roofs that are less than 15 years old or for very long-lasting roofing materials like slate. Repairs are best when the damage is minor or located in one condensed area. If the damage is significant or occurring on more than ¼ of your roof, or if your shingle roof is more than 20 years old, it could be time for a full replacement. Our knowledgeable team members will always lend our advice to make sure you get the best solution for your unique situation.

Why is roof ventilation important?

Without proper roof ventilation, hot air can build up in your attic and cause accelerated aging and cracking on wood and poor energy performance. Balanced ventilation helps promote a cooler and drier attic and prevent excess moisture buildup.

How should I prepare for a siding installation?

We recommend making sure your cars are moved so that we don’t accidentally park you in! We also suggest taking down photos and other decor from your walls before the installation so that they don’t fall.

Will I be able to “try on” siding colors before choosing?

Yes! Our team will send you a 3D rendition of your home where you can sift through different colors and styles and see how they look on your real home before making your final decision.

What types of siding materials do you install?

We install James Hardie fiber cement, vinyl, and PVC siding materials. While all of these materials are common throughout New Jersey, James Hardie is typically the most popular choice for local homeowners.

How can I tell if I need to get my siding replaced?

In New Jersey, many homes have EIFS siding, which can crack and chip away. No matter what type of siding you have, look for gaps, cracks, dents, and any interior water damage. Old rotten or warped wood siding should also be replaced.

What window and door brands do you install?

We proudly install Andersen, United, Marvin, and Pella window and door brands.

Are the window brands you use Energy Star rated?

Yes! All of the window manufacturers we use have been certified by Energy Star to ensure you get an energy-efficient product in your home.

Does getting new windows increase home value?

Absolutely! It may not seem like the most exciting home improvement project, but prospective buyers are very attracted to homes with new windows. In fact, you can expect to recoup around 70% of your investment in your home value.

How much do new windows help you save on energy bills?

New energy-efficient windows can help you save up to 12% on your energy bills. You can save anywhere between $100-$580 per year on your energy expenses after you’ve installed new windows. Even beyond the money savings, you’ll quickly notice how your home retains heat and cooling easier without your HVAC system having to work as hard.

Are your gutters custom cut?

Yes! We custom-cut our gutters right at your property before installing them. This ensures that your new gutters fit your home like a glove.

What types of gutters do you install?

We offer 5 and 6-inch seamless gutters and downspouts. Seamless gutters feature a sleek design that makes them far less prone to leaks compared to traditional gutters.

When do I need to replace my gutters?

Gutters that frequently clog or leak should be replaced because standing water can cause mold growth and foundation problems. Other signs of failing gutters include gutters pulling away from the roof, improper drainage, and significant wear and tear. It’s also acceptable to replace your gutters if you’re simply looking for a new color or style.

How are solar shingles different than solar panels?

Both solar shingles and solar panels offer the same energy-saving benefits, but solar shingles provide a more sleek appearance. While solar panels are traditionally bulky and stick out like a sore thumb, solar shingles blend in seamlessly with your roof shingles.

What brand of solar shingles do you install?

We’re proud to be certified by GAF Solar and install GAF Timberline Solar roofing systems. GAF Timberline solar shingles come backed with GAF warranties, can withstand winds up to 130 mph, and are water-shedding just like GAF asphalt shingles.

What maintenance is required for GAF solar shingles?

The good news is that GAF solar shingles are designed to withstand snow, rain, and wind, so they require little to no maintenance. Something you can do to maintain your solar shingles is gently rinse them with your hose if dirt and debris build up. (Only do this when the solar shingles are cool, and avoid using a pressure washer.) You can also call Blue Nail Exteriors for maintenance advice and service.

Does installing solar shingles make me eligible for tax credits?

The federal government has a program in place that incentivizes solar energy. We recommend getting in touch with your tax advisor to learn more about specific local and federal tax programs you could benefit from.

What is the repayment term for financing?

Our programs are designed with flexibility in mind. In many cases, we’re able to offer low monthly payments spread over up to 120 months (10 years). This helps make even larger-scale projects more manageable with a plan that fits your lifestyle.

How long does it take to get approved for financing?

It’s fast—really fast. Most applicants receive instant approval within minutes of submitting the form. The best part? The preapproval process is quick, painless, and won’t affect your credit score, so you can explore your options without worry.

Can I finance just a portion of my project?
