How Do We Do It?

Blue Nail has a sure-fire seven step process to install a forever roof above your head. Residents of Montville can sleep easy knowing that our effective protective method will preserve the safety of their home forever.

So, how do we do it?

Step 1: PLANNING – We lay out a fool proof roofing plan after taking initial measurements of your existing structure. Once we know how much space we’re working with, we can provide an accurate estimation of time and price.

Step 2: REMOVAL – We go in and remove your old roof. Once the old roof is gone we are able to continue, replacing it with one that will last for decades.

Step 3: SHEATHING – The trusses and beams of your roof create its shape, but sheathing lays down a foundation upon which we build. We check the condition of the existing sheathing and replace where needed.

Step 4: ICE AND WATER GUARDING – Leaks are the single greatest threat to a roof. So, we’re incredibly thorough in our ice and water guarding process. We will make sure that no moisture can seep through, causing damage to your home. Most roofing companies only use one row of guard, but we use two. If there are ice damming issues and only one row of ice and water shields we will correct the issue by adding another row around the eaves of the roof. This is a major step for homes with overhangs and should be taken care of as soon as possible.

Step 5: UNDERLAYMENT – We use synthetic underlay on top of the sheathing to make a solid base for shingling. This stops water from entering the home during a storm that could blow off shingles.

Step 6: FLASHING – Our leak prevention strategy receives its second and final step here. Flashing is applied upon the rising portions of your roof, including all corners and around the bottom of the chimney for maximum protection.

Step 7: SHINGLES – We overlay our shingles, starting at the base and rising up the slope of the roof as we go. We use nails rather than staple guns to ensure maximum hold.
